Welcome

I'm Dilya, a therapist and counsellor based in Maastricht, offering support in Russian, English, and Dutch. As an expat myself, I deeply understand the challenges that come with building a life in a new country, from cultural and linguistic adjustments to the stresses of emigration.

Whether you're navigating a crisis or feeling stuck, I provide compassionate counselling for individuals and couples, aiming to help you find clarity, discover your path forward, and ultimately feel better. Book a free 30-minute online consultation. My journey to therapy was shaped by my previous career in science (biology) and as a regulatory officer in a multinational, cross-cultural corporation. This background, combined with my own transformative experience of psychotherapy and comprehensive professional training, allows me to offer a unique perspective grounded in both analytical understanding and deep empathy for the human experience.

My Vision

Therapy for me is about (re)creating connections: with yourself, with others, and with life. I help you become more compassionate towards yourself and your loved ones, and find a healthy balance between being yourself while still engaged and connected with others. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed, therapy offers a safe space to reflect, gain clarity, and empowers you to make informed decisions about how to move forward.



My Approach
I see therapy as your unique personal journey, and I'm here to walk alongside you, illuminating the path in different directions. I can help you explore and articulate the questions that lie at the heart of your difficulties. Often, the very act of asking the right questions can bring new perspectives and hold the seeds of your own answers. To address your individual needs, I draw upon a range of effective therapeutic approaches, including gestalt therapy, relational dialogue, trauma therapy, dreamwork, art therapy, and experiential techniques. Among other issues, I work with difficulties around emigration, relationships, depressive and anxious states, and psychosomatic symptoms.
 

Active Principle and Transformation

Creating a safe and empathetic atmosphere where you can feel truly at ease is my priority. Once we know each other and you feel safe, I may encourage you to explore new ways of dialogue and communication within our therapeutic relationship. This personal dialogue can be deeply healing, reconnecting you to profound feelings of being accepted and good enough, and freeing you from self-judgment and guilt. I invite you to take that courageous step towards being true to yourself and experience the healing power of connection in the "here and now."


The Wisdom of the Body

I believe our deepest needs and feelings are often expressed through our physical sensations. Think about what you feel when you are hungry and instinctively look for food. The same inherent wisdom guides us in understanding our emotional and relational needs, which are also often felt physically.

Your body holds the narrative of your life experiences. In our sessions, I will invite you to pay attention to how your body experiences and expresses itself, what messages it conveys, and how you currently deal with these sensations. Together, we can explore how you might choose to relate to them differently. This awareness of your body is a natural resource for better understanding yourself, allowing you to translate these insights into self-acceptance, communication, and action.



Embodiment Coaching
A powerful and accelerated approach that taps into the body's innate wisdom through specific awareness and empowerment techniques. Unlike purely cognitive approaches, it utilizes specific techniques to bring awareness to physical sensations, movements, and postures, revealing deeply held patterns and beliefs that may be unconscious.

By learning to listen to and interpret these bodily signals, you can gain profound insights that empower you to move forward with your requests and cultivate a more authentic and empowered sense of self.


 

A Little About Me

For me, therapy should be a safe space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, without judgment. I believe my own open-mindedness and having lived in different cultures has helped me see things this way. Born in Russia to a Bashkir-Tatar family, I moved to the Netherlands for science at the age of 25 and then decided to study Psychotherapy in Ukraine.

It's been a unique journey, and I've connected with so many interesting people from different backgrounds. I really value being respectful, and I think a little laughter can make things easier.

When I'm not working as a therapist, I enjoy the simple things: good food, listening to a wide range of music (from metal and jazz to current genres), and watching films and series. I'm also genuinely curious about different countries, cultures, art, languages, and what makes people who they are. I love travelling to sunny countries like Spain, Italy, and Greece.

 

On the personal side, I'm a mother to a teenager, a co-parent, and I'm with a lovely partner. There is always hope for a better life.

For those who prefer the ease of remote connection, I offer comprehensive online therapy services. You can access professional support from the comfort and privacy of your own home, no matter where you are located. Online therapy saves you travel time and offers a practical solution for  psychological support.

Our sessions will be conducted via video calls using platforms like Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. 

To make the most of our online sessions and ensure your confidentiality, please ensure you have a private room and noone will interrupt you.

I provide individual, couples and family therapy, helping my clients navigate a wide range of challenges, including relationship issues (communication, attachment, divorce, parenting, intimacy, fertility), life transitions (emigration, midlife crisis, career changes), trauma and loss (family-of-origin traumas, difficult choices, grief), and cultural adjustments (emigration, international couples, career challenges, conflicts at work, etc). In my work I pay attention to your lived experience, and how it translates into your difficulties and how it is connected to your values, needs and dreams.

I understand that navigating these challenges can be difficult, and I'm here to provide a supportive and safe space for you to explore your experiences and find greater personal freedom. 

The therapy is personal, relational, and focuses on you, your life, and your relationships with others. I dont use any "one-fit-all" protocols and schemes. Therapy is always tailored to your personality and problem.

Relationship Issues in Couples

We need other people to feel happy and connected. However, we often develop specific patterns and encounter difficulties in communication with family and loved ones. Most common topics are communication issues, conflicts, infidelity, intimacy and sexuality issues, infidelity, divorce, coparenting. You can come to therapy individually or as a couple to improve your relationship. 


Childhood Issues and Relationships with Your Family

Often, our attachment patterns and adult issues are rooted in childhood experiences. We can explore how these influence your life today and what steps can be taken to heal from childhood traumas. Past traumas often continue to play a role in our communication with parents and also influence our connection with our own children. Do you recognize this?


Cultural Adjustment

Being a migrant or expat exposes you to a different culture. Adapting and finding your way in a new place can be challenging. You might feel lonely, misunderstood, or experience resistance to learning the new culture and language. In therapy, we can address your specific questions and concerns.

 

Understanding Your Boundaries and Managing Feelings Around Them

Sometimes, it can be challenging to find the right balance between your own needs and the needs of others. In therapy, we can address this and develop a new, healthier communication style that is more flexible and balanced. Setting new boundaries may evoke feelings of guilt and fear of rejection. All of this can be explored in therapy to find a healthier foundation.


Crisis, Loss, and Grief

A crisis is a situation where our traditional ways of coping no longer work. We can explore the causes of your pain and how you can move forward. Sadly, life and therapy are not always about simply "making and feeling better." Sometimes, we need to grieve our losses to release new energy and become ready for a new chapter. Any significant change and choice in life can lead to grief because choosing something always means leaving something else behind. It can be painful to face your choices.

Embodiment coaching  45 min - 75 euro

Couples therapy 60 min - 75 euro
Couples therapy 90 min - 112.5 euro
